New Member Class
Have you been part of the HUMC family, but haven't had the opportunity to become an official member? It's been a couple of years since we offered a new member class and we're hoping to get a class organized this fall. This is a 6-week class called A Disciple's Path that we could offer online, or in person, or a combination of both. We are looking at Sunday mornings, but day and time can also be flexible. Please contact the church office if you are interested.

Let us know when and how would work best for you!

Confirmation Class
Pastor Michelle is looking to begin a confirmation class this fall using a mentor centered curriculum with a lot of flexibility. Do you have a 6th-12th grader who hasn't taken confirmation? Would they like to learn more about the church? Would they like to explore their own faith? The curriculum encourages asking questions and relationship building with a mentor or mentors. Some classes will be together as a class, but most of them are at the convenience of mentors and confirmands Confirmation Class ends with the opportunity to become a church member in the spring.

Please contact the office if you have an interested youth Invitations will be going out to youth and mentors sometime in September, with the goal of kicking off in October.

AND an Online Directory!
The system will allow everyone to update their own profile, add a picture, and access an online photo directory. You can even choose what contact information to share with other members!

The Annual Angel Tree will be is up in the Memorial walkway.

With the demographics of the pantry changing we have decided to include local seniors who utilize the pantry in our giving tree this year. We understand that with the pandemic that some people are not comfortable shopping in stores so the pantry came up with a solution of gift cards to local businesses.

The tree will now work as follows:

You will retrieve an envelope with a number on the outside & a request for a certain local store gift card. Please sign your name & contact information next to the corresponding number on your envelope on the table or CLICK HERE to request a person to sponsor via google forms.

If you choose this option, an envelope can be mailed to you or you can pick one up at the office. Please return the gift card in the envelope via the offering basket at service or to the HUMC office ONLY.

Please return the envelopes by Dec 6th so that we may distribute in time for Christmas.

As always thank you for supporting our families in need. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact the office at 570-226-3875 or hawleyumc@gmail.com.

SAFE SANCTUARIES:
Our church and other churches have policies and procedures which reduce the risk of child abuse, youth abuse, and vulnerable adults abuse. We call it Safe Sanctuaries.  The objectives are to keep children, youth, and vulnerable adults away from any predators. In order to use these procedures and the policies, every 5 years we renew our 3 clearances and after we have the clearances, we take Safe Sanctuaries Training.
We are blessed with many of our people who want to be part of one or more of our programs which interact with children, youth or vulnerable adults .  Now, we are first listing, HUMC Staff,  Sunday School Teachers,  and Adult Leaders for the HUMC Youth Group.  There are a  lot of us. As soon as we get things going, we will contact you. It will help a lot if you can give us the names and dates of the clearances which you have now. If you can text that to me, that would be great.

Thank you all,
